WWYD - love it or list it?

WWYD got spacious three bed Edwardian terrace with garden, nice area but the on street parking is terrible and the bathroom although large is windowless. Can’t decide whether to move (very little on the market round here currently) or do it up and stay (but would still have awful parking and windowless bathroom.

I could get over windowless bathroom, just needs good decoration but parking would annoy me! List it!

Would you get something significantly better for the extra you can afford to pay? Or would there be other compromises instead of the parking/bathroom?

dulcieM · 15/02/2023 10:02

Most of the parking in the area we need is bad (ours is a bit worse because of being a cul de sac). What we could afford wouldn’t be that much better but would get slightly better on street parking and bathroom with window but smaller rooms and smaller garden.

If the parking wouldn’t be much better, I’d love it for now.
For the hassle and expense of moving, it needs to really worth it. Most houses are a compromise. Yours is the bathroom and parking. If you found a comparable house with off-street and a better bathroom it would be worth considering but then there probably would be a different compromise…

If you could get off street parking then I would move, because it is genuinely so much less stressful. If you couldn't, then I'm not sure it's worth it right now.

Are you limited to a very small area? If not, there must be some options where offstreet parking would be a possibility- even if you have to concrete over a front garden etc (which I know isn't ideal).

Maybe widen your search a bit before making a decision?

I would List it ( as long as moving to a better house is affordable)

Absolutely not worth moving for that, in my view

Love it. It doesn't sound like you'd be trading it for anything that was much of an improvement really. And it sounds like a lovely house!

We worked out where we were that off road parking seemed to add about £100k to the price. We paid it. It's great.
