Hallway rug dilemma

Ok first world problem - we have beige carpet in our hallway (yes I know but it is to match other pre done rooms in house). The space is like kitchen roller shape - small square then large rectangle then another small square about 5 metres all way across. So at the moment we have 3 diff rugs but it looks odd. Any ideAs? Apart from recarpet house - we can’t have wooden floors due to knee problems.

I'd tile the area just inside the front door, for ease of cleaning. I'm not sure what you mean by knee problems - can you explain?

Could you get a long runner rug about the length of the hallway?

Could you get a rug made for the area? Then you can pick the fabric and have it made to size?

CatOnTheChair · 14/02/2023 17:32

What do you mean by kitchen roller shaped?

If I've understood correctly, you have 3 distinct areas? Tile the bit by the front door, or put down a big doormat, rug down the middle bit, existing carpet at the end?

Serious arthistis which gets worse on tiled or wooden floors

I'm thinking kitchen roller blind? Kitchen rolling pin? But can't make the shape you are trying to describe! Can you sketch it out?

But stand by, ditch the end rug, keep the middle one, and put in a doormat next to the door.

If everyone takes their shoes off indoors then it shouldn't get too mucky. I'd just get it shampooed every now and then, but I'm not a fan of rugs in hallways as I'm a clumsy twat and would trip...
