Ring doorbell plug broken - do I need an electrician?

My ring doorbell was fitted by someone I knew. It wasn't done very professionally but did the job for a year. Somehow the plug has been damaged so there's no power coming through. My choices seem to be replacing the plug but it will need rewiring or invest in a new wireless one. Any thoughts?

Can you just buy a new plug and attach the 2 wires to the wires from your doorbell? Cut the old plug off.
When I fitted mine, I used the wires from my old doorbell and attached the wires from the plug to them.

@Porkchops22 I think I need to solder the wires to the existing plug as I believe that's the only issue, they have lost contact due to the plug splitting apart. But I really am no good at DIY so I wouldn't know how to do it.

Ring Ring, they're v helpful, our bell has stopped working a few times and they've talked me through issues and sent spare parts for free.
