Ending tenancy

Evening all,

I hoped someone could give me an idea of how things work when leaving a periodic tenancy. We are out of our fixed term and have a rolling contract, paying our rent on the same date every month.

We have handed in our one months notice which will end mid-month (which our landlord has confirmed is fine).

Would we still be liable to pay the full months rent, or would it be pro-rata to calculate just the days we occupy the property?

Thank you.

Notice should run from a payment date.

Ok. In this case it won't, so presumably we just pay the full "usual" month despite the end date being earlier?

I feel like it's impossible to do it correctly because depending on when you're offered the new property it would be a huge coincidence if the dates fell correctly?

Yes it would be coincidental. Most of the time you have to pay the overlap.

I thought this would be the case, thank you
