Relocate to yorkshire or Northumberland?

We are planning to relocate from the midlands to North Yorkshire or Northumberland. We both work from home so don’t need to commute. My question is which is better? I definitely want some peace and quiet a village community with a nice pub, scenic views, I love the sea but don’t necessarily need it on my doorstep. I love snow and cold weather (strange I know 😂) if you have made the move to either of these places please give me your pros and cons and places that you recommend and those you don’t. Any advice I’d really appreciate it.

Personally I’d go for Northumberland, but I think the north Pennines in County Durham are the snowiest place in England if that’s the most important thing to you.

Yep I live in the Penines... around January we usually get a LOT of snow.

It was always weird as I would sometime be late to work as we would have like a foot snow to battle through to get there and we would roll into newcastle and there would be zero snow on the ground and people didn't believe us it was so bad just 30 minutes away.

It depends on where in North Yorkshire ( and likely the same for Northumberland).

NY is huge, it can take four and a half hours to drive across and differs significantly from really rural villages, steeped in generations of families, to, Garrison towns, seaside towns, small cities and market towns.

What are you wanting? Are schools important?

I'm from Newcastle and spent lots of time in Scotland, Yorkshire, Cumbria and Northumberland. I'd happily live in any of those places except Yorkshire. Lovely to visit but I wouldn't live there. Durham is also beautiful and many villages are above the snow line. My perfect place to live would be somewhere close to Alnwick, Rothbury or Amble. Craster maybe. My heart lives in Northumberland
