Open plan kitchen living or not

I am currently renovating our 1960s townhouse and going to move the kitchen downstairs. I am taunted between converting the existing garage to kitchen or relocate the shower room to the garage such that we can have a open plan kitchen/living. Will possibly build another garage on the side in the future

I can see the advantage of having an enclosed kitchen (I do a lot of cooking but no body is keen to do the washing up😂). But also love the openness and lights in an open plan large room. Unfortunately can not have both at the same time. Would love to hear your opinions please.

Kitchen diner yes, kitchen living room no.

Agree with pp, a kitchen diner would be the best. Both of my flats have been open plan kitchen/dining/living and I would just love a separate living space.

Kitchen diner yes but open plan kitchen living room means you see any mess when the washing machine dishwasher or dryer is on theres no escape from the noise i live in an old huse which has front room at the front and kitchen at the back its surprising how just shutting the door kills the noise
