Smart radiator valves

Has anyone found any nice looking smart radiator valves they could recommend please?

We’re having black column radiators and my partner’s keen we have smart thermostatic valves but they’re all huge white plastic which looks a bit odd with traditional radiators. I just want to make sure they don’t exist before I give up and go for practical over style, Google hasn’t been very helpful!

We have this on a new column radiator which looks very smart in the flesh

What smart system do you have? You need to buy the smart ones that match your system . So if you have hive you need smart hive. If you have TADO you need smart TADO. None smart trvs will work with any smart thermostat but won’t be smart and will need manual adjustments.

They're probably big because they haver to have a battery inside...

Not something I would bother with personally, as it's the only bit of exercise I get - bending down to review the setting every couple of years.

When we bought and installed our anthracite column rads, we went for the ‘Drayton TVR4 Chrome Thermostatic valves. They are excellent, and look nice, albeit a bit expensive. Worth spending money on though.

We have no smart system yet so it’s everything to play for! The heating engineer is currently ripping out the old boiler and three water tanks (!!!) so we’re starting completely from scratch. I don’t like Hive so we’re debating Nest vs Tado.

I have a TADO and I like it. The smart radiator valves are expensive at £50 each but if you are replacing a boiler then the extra cost is pretty insignificant. According to my last energy saving report on the TADO app my saving for December with the smart system was 17.7% so as a high energy user it will soon pay for itself.

I think Drayton are the only one of the big names that currently come in a colour other than white
There are Genius smart ones that come in various colours but I know nothing of their system.
From experience I would stick with the bigger names so that when you need spares or fixes they are easier (ish) to get hold of.
We've had Honeywell smart system for almost 9years and it's good for what we needed (large system lots of zones) and there wasn't much choice. The white valves blend into the white skirtings so you don't notice them that much after a while.
From colleagues and clients - the Drayton system is definitely worth a look and tado if you don't mind white valves.
