Finding a logistics/haulage company for long distance move

Newbie here.

I'm moving from London to Yorkshire and want to find a haulage/logistics company who could collect and transport my belongings (mostly boxes but a small amount of furniture too). I did this in the opposite direction when I moved to London and it helped to keep costs down because my stuff filled a gap in a lorry that was already going on that route. But that was years ago and that company don't exist any more. Also, I can't remember how I found them in the first place. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations?

It might be worth trying Anyvan - specify what you have to transport and companies will give you quotes. If you are flexible with timings I think you can get a reasonable deal. We successfully used them to arrange the transportation of a piano 200 miles or so. The crew of very strong men who did it picked it up at something like 10am and got to us at 9pm having they said visited four places between the Midlands and us on the way to us as their final stop on the South coast. I would have thought there would be lots of scope for transport between London and Yorkshire!

Thanks. I did get a quote from Anyvan but the reviews seem to be either really good or absolutely terrible (I guess it depends on who they assign to your job) so I felt a bit nervous about them. That said, it's probably a similar risk whoever you choose, unless it's a company you've personally used before.
