Any electricians around? Our shower isn't working!

Hello

Our electric shower isn't working. No water is coming out of it at all.

The on/off cord outside of the shower seems to be working (the light is turning on).

We tried resetting the electrics. That didn't work.

We then assumed the appliance was faulty. We purchased another one, have fitted it correctly, but it won't work either. No water and not turning on.

Everything else in the house is working fine. The shower itself worked fine until yesterday.

Any help appreciated.

Well if you fitted it yourselves you must know how to turn off/turn on and check the electrics and check that the main fuse has not activated. You must also be able to check whether there is water flowing to it in order to fit it.

Don't really see that there can be any more than that.

Have you had any other work done on the house recently ? When did the first one stop ? Sometimes there is a separate valve on the water feed for the shower so you can isolate it. Maybe that has been turned.

Sounds like the shower's solenoid valve has given up.
Depends which shower it is and how old. With some models and certainly some older makes/models you could just swap the solenoid module without needing to even turn off the water. However for many now the solenoid actually is incorporated into a part with that part being shower model specific.
