Converting a conservatory into a proper extension

Please can anyone help with the steps that are needed and the ordering.

I’m getting really confused (I suspect unnecessarily) but I just can’t get my head around:
do we need an architect?
structural engineer?
which one comes first?

I think structural engineer to check footings before the architect gets involved but I’m just guessing.

planning or certificate of lawfulness ?
When do building regs come into it?
when do we line up a builder?
how does it all fit together?

its not a massive space and we know roughly what we want so there isnt a huge design element to it so it feels like it should be straightforward but i can’t get my head around it.

also if anyone has done this any lessons learned would be gratefully received

The conservatory footings are unlikely to be substantial enough unless it was put in with a mind to replacing with a brick extension.
