Blinds for sliding doors

We have a set of large sliding doors in our kitchen (just over 5 meters long). At the moment, we have some very thick curtains hung up to help keep the room warm when we get into winter, but it doesn’t look the greatest!

We have been considering blinds for a while to get a sleeker look, but really not sure what would be suitable with the configuration we have. MIL keeps suggesting vertical blinds as an option, but I can’t help get 70s office vibes from them, and I’m not convinced they will suit the overall look of the room (open plan kitchen and living room)

Has anyone else had blinds fitted to sliding Doors or have some recommendations on what we could consider?

Thanks!

Following with interest because we're looking at different options for our upcoming renovation. Our architect suggested sliding doors, but I think we're favouring patio doors of some sort (possibly crittall style) due to the ability to put up blinds to a. screen the cold and b. provide privacy because we're a little overlooked.

I put three separate roller blinds to cover a span of 5.5m bi-folds. They are automated and controlled by a remote control. It looks and works really well.

Oh that’s really interesting and could be an option for us. Can I ask how thick the material is? My parents have automated roller blinds in their house, but the material is quite thin, so not great for insulation.

Our kitchen/living room is north facing, so warmth is a must!

The roller blind material is normal thickness but does cut out a lot of light which we needed as south facing. I wanted the blinds to go down to the floor to keep heat in at night as windows do get very cold. You can get thermal perfect fit blinds for bi-folds but not sure they would work with wide sliding doors. I really like the ease of using the remote to work the blinds altogether or one at a time.

Luxaflex blinds are not cheap but they have lots of options for bigger windows/doors.

Im with you op. Vertical blinds are for offices.
