uPVC or Aluminium frame double glazing on a 1920s house?

If you were buying a house, would you prefer uPVC or aluminium frames?

Any particular thoughts/opinions?

Any recommendations for good firms for South London/Surrey?

Also (while I’m here), would you rather have traditional large low radiators under windows or tall slim radiators?

Thanks!

can't help on the windows but interested in answers.

I prefer radiators under windows as it frees up other wall space. However in the kitchen & bathroom I like vertical.

I prefer windows with the slimmest frame possible, so that is probably aluminium. 1920s houses often have beautiful slim window frames, and chunky uPVC would look horrible.

@safeplanet my only issue with the window is it means that it can be difficult for some furniture - my main problem is the living room, where we currently have a sofa blocking the (limited) heat the (rubbish) radiator kicks out. But at the same time, I am not sure about tall radiators in my living room.

@parietal I'm with you on that. Although the current (failing) UPVC is actually not as hideously chunky as some.

Also looking at this, had a couple of quotes for aluminium bays and the price has been higher than I expected!

Any recommendations for the South East gratefully received, or any ballpark figures
