I have a consumer unit with a type AC RCD.
The fluorescent light in the bathroom has gone (not just the bulb), and needs replacing. As fluorescent lights are on the way out, the electrician is going to replace it with an LED light. However, he has said this means he may need to replace the RCD with a type A, to meet the latest government regulations. He will let me know how much this will cost when he sees the consumer unit.
I've not used (or met) this electrician before, so am not sure whether I can trust him yet, so I'm hoping someone here can clarify some points for me. I've Googled, but it is all quite complicated.
Will I need to have the RCD replaced? The whole house was rewired less than ten years ago.
Very roughly, how much might it cost? He wouldn't even give me a ballpark before he saw it.
Thank you!
