Noisy loud range cooker oven!

Please help! We bought a Smeg Opera range cooker and expected it to be wonderful. But it sounds like an aeroplane taking off! The cooling fan is really loud and intrusive all the time when it is cooking and continues for 20 minutes once its finished.

We can't live with it.

Any suggestions for range cookers that are quiet when operating? We've tried to find places to view cookers in operation but no-one seems to offer that.

We're thinking Rangemaster Elise, Ilve Roma, Mercury, Falcon Deluxe, Stoves Sterling. Anything that isn't loud!

Really hope someone can help

Is it properly installed? Have you checked reviews of it to see if anyone else has complained about this issue or if it's a problem with your particular one?

Thanks for the reply RidingMyBike. Yes - Smeg sent an engineer around who said that our cooker which operates between 58 - 65 dB (which is louder than our cooker hood!) is completely normal (!) It just has a very loud cooling fan 😞

We have a Rangemaster Elise induction and it's not noisy. There is a fan that vents behind the hob but it's not especially loud at all.

We have literally just had the same oven installed and the noise is horrific. Cannot cope with it. What did you end up doing? I worry that as it's installed Smeg won't take it back? Help!

Really sorry for you. But there is hope. We persisted and insisted the oven was either I) faulty or ii) not fit for purpose as a domestic oven. We threatened to sue and eventually an engineer decided it was faulty (it almost definitely wasn’t) and took it away and we got a refund. Now have an Ilve Roma which is gorgeous and quiet. Good luck!

We’ve just had this installed. It’s so noisy. I’m so disappointed. I don’t think we can change it. Posting this to deter others. It’s blaring away now despite being turned off twenty minutes ago.
