Design software

I'm at the beginning stages of planning an extension and kitchen/diner and wanted to make some firmer plans and 'see' what it might look like and what kind of kitchen units we could have.

Can you recommend any design software/apps? We have used 5D, which was great, but the kitchens aren't great, it's a bit fiddly and you have to pay for the better features.

Happy to use separate software/websites for the kitchen planning.

I found the IKEA kitchen planner and then using home.by.me a good combo to get the idea of a layout in 3d. I think home.by.me is really good and they have loads of fun items to put into a space to see how it'd look.
