Land Registry Title Deeds/Register

I want to find out who owns one of the houses in my road and know I can buy the title deed/register from Land Registry.

I have done this before a few years ago for an old neighbour. You have to register and provide an address to be able to
purchase so I wanted to know if it’s anonymous outside of LR itself? I’ve heard alerts exist if your property is searched for I believe?

I'd say it is anonymous as I can't think of a way of communicating the search to the owners, unless there is some sort of system where you as owner can set up the alert (in which case, how many people would know / set up the alert?)

But you can check on the gov website:

www.gov.uk/search-property-information-land-registry

Thank you! I’ve already looked at that link prior so I feel like it would be anonymous. I have the alert set up for mine but I believe it only shows if someone searches maybe!

I thought the alerts were only if someone tried to register a restriction on the property (to avoid mortgage free properties being sold by a fraudster). I don't think they alert to every search of the register. Though if they do, that might explain all the delays with the important work!

The alerts are to protect you in case somebody tried to add something to the register for your house, you wouldn’t get an alert just because somebody looked at it. The register is a public document, anybody can look at it and you wouldn’t know.

Thanks both!

I have an alert set up for my house and once a year I get an 'activity report'. But since there's been no activity I can't answer your question.
