Cast iron rad with feet - need to strap to the wall?

Hello all,

planning on ordering this rad tomorrow, it’s 960mm high and around 1100ww wide.
only two columns.

it stands on feet , but I feel it should be braced to the wall. The website linked below doesn’t sell anything for this purpose.

it’s going on a stud wall.

behind the stud wall is an 8-10cm void and then a stone wall.

I have two small children.

could someone please advise a way to brace it to the wall ?

thanks

Oh I’m sorry. I’ve just found “wall stays” on their site.

what a fanny. Sorry !

Okay I do need help after all.

here are the wall stays

www.castironradiators.ltd.uk/luxury-wall-stay----pewter-55324-p.asp

the threaded bar is 265mm long

the rad is 189mm deep, and will sit around 30mm (?) away from wall due to skirting board.

so that’s 210mm ish of pole used up.

it won’t be long enough to attach to the stone wall, due to the void between the stud and stone wall.

i suppose my question is:

could this be attached to the stud wall ? Seems a bit dodgy doesn’t it.

maybe I need to ask for an extra long wall -stay to have it anchored into stone wall?

thank you!!

(It’s a lathe and horsehair stud wall)

A 2column radiator is not that heavy, but it will wobble, so is best attached to the wall. Ideally, you'd want the radiator stay to attach to the studwork (the wooden beams that hold up the plasterboard). A carpenter or plumber will find the studs for you, and locate the radiator centrally in front of a stud if there is enough space, or otherwise they could fix a wooden board behind the radiator between two studs for the wall stay. But as long as you don't have kids sitting/climbing onto the radiators, plasterboard will be strong enough to hold the weight of a 2column radiator.

Oh sorry, just saw its lath and plaster. Our wallstays are in lath and plaster, won't allow our kids to climb on but it's fine, I attach a photo of the one in my sons bedroom.

@NellyBarney thats great thank you ! My husband has reassured me that the wall stays Aren’t holding weight, just preventing wobble!
