Paint indecision - neutral or colour

I know this is personal taste but can anyone help me work out whether neutral or colour is a better choice for my walls? I'm looking to paint my hallways (two) and stairs. I like a light house so I don't think I'd want anything dark on the walls. I like clean and fairly minimal with natural materials but I don't want to be boring (for me). I don't want to look dated either but again I know that's subjective. Should I go with a good shade of white and just bring colour in with other things, like plants and lighting and art?

If you like white/light neutrals but are worried about it looking too plain/boring, you could keep your colour palette light but introduce a mix of materials and textures. Depending on the style of your house, you could think about wallpanelling or textured wallcoverings, like seegrass, or linen effect wallpaper, or, if budget allows, real linen or dyed silk.
