Double oven or two single ovens

We are planning a full kitchen remodel. "Double oven" seems to refer to an oven and a half. A design settled with two single ovens instead, but having a wobble about whether we will actually use them!

Currently I regularly get annoyed trying to find space in our regular single oven, shuffling to fit trays on the very bottom of the oven for example so it is rammed. We are a couple with two children under 10. Can anyone tell me if they use/don't use their two single ovens, wish they'd had two singles not a double, any other thoughts?

We have a double oven, 1.5 really. The main oven is the same size as a single, the top oven is really just a grill. Given the choice I'd have gone for two identical single ovens.

2 single ovens here. Best decision we made . Both get used a lot . Ideal for big roasts and baking things at different temps at same time . Don't know how we coped making Xmas dinner before .

We have a single plus a built-in combination oven/microwave (so works as both a microwave and an oven although slightly smaller than a full-sized oven). It works for us as we didn’t have the space for two ovens plus a built-in microwave. I don’t like the look of double ovens.

Our old house had a “double oven” and the new house has two single ovens (one normal, one combi). Not sure which I prefer, tbh, but I would go for two identical single ovens rather than a combi. It is quite useful when cooking for a crowd (eg Christmas) to have two decent size singles you can run at different temperatures, so on balance I think I’d go for two full size singles. They look better, too.

2 singles here

Most single ovens have a capacity of 71L , double ovens often have a capacity of 74L. My perfect solution is a range with two 73L ovens, I fill them both at Christmas.

I can see it being useful for things like Christmas dinners, but in day to day life I don't think I'd use two ovens very much - but then we have a dual air fryer so don't use the oven as much anyway.

Two single ovens or perhaps 1 single and one combination oven and microwave. Do not get a double oven. The smaller oven is really only useful for grilling.

Interesting about capacity! Thanks

We also have 2 single ovens. We love them, I think double ovens seem pointless.

(We also have 2 dishwashers which is amazing too!, one intriguing the kitchen and our old freestanding one in the utility room)

Lonecatwithkitten · 22/01/2023 09:37

@rattlemehearties it's all in the detail. A 110cm range gives you two 73L ovens a grill and some even have a small slow oven/ warming drawer. Kitchen designers often over look this.

Myeyeballsareonfire · 22/01/2023 09:51

*integrated… not intriguing! Ffs!

We also have 2 warming drawers. Which come in very useful when having a crowd over
