5 years after fitting it now looks dull and has a number of scratches on it.

Besides repainting is there anything I can apply to improve the appearance?

Am I the only one with this issue? 😕

No! Following with interest as ours looks a bit shabby too. I know people have painted them, not sure whether that helps with the scratches though.

whereeverilaymycat I was hoping for advice on a magic wax I can get from Amazon for £3.99 that will do the job 😄

Here's hoping someone comes along with just that!

My door fitter told me WD-40 will restore the shine. I've tried it and I'm pleased with the result

Sesame oil? Works on faded car bumpers?!

helloisitmeyourelookingfor · 21/01/2023 21:57

I used car colour restorer

I was recommended this on MN many years ago and it works really well restoring the dullness

I need to get some touch up paint as it's got loads of knocks on it, being 20 years old!

I'd love the change the colour of my door but yet to find a company or how to do it.

Mean to also say I was really impressed with the product and how much colour it bought back to the door.

I painted mine with black matt paint...small tin from poundland....one coat...looks new !!

I painted my 20 years plus white upvc door with Zinsser All coat satin colour tinted to RAL 7005 Mouse Grey. Really easy to use, a good clean, light sand and apply 2 coats with a velour roller. I did do 3 coats for my door. It's a bit cold to be doing it now but one warm morning and you can get a door done.
They have the Zinsser in black and white or you can have it tinted to all the RAL colours. A 1 litre tin goes a long way, think I only used an inch of paint.
The door has been done 2 1/2 years and still looks good as new.
