Really struggling with how best to use space downstairs in our house. It's big, but strangely laid out so not utilised well. We currently have a long kitchen/ living space, but with kitchen at North facing side so, despite multiple windows and sky lights, we sit in the darkest bit, while the sunny end is hardly used and the middle bit becomes like a corridor.
Ideally we'd move the kitchen but that would be £££ presumably. Also considering putting an island in the kitchen, moving dining table to other end, but middle bit will still be unused. Also wondered whether to knock down the conservatory as it's freezing or boiling, and spoils the view to the garden.
Dh thinks we could put a wall back and section the wrap around back bit to be a study (would be handy for us), but I worry this would make the room even longer looking.
Any ways of reconfiguring this space? Or tips to make it look wider with furniture (red blobs are where sofas/ sideboard are)? Or some sort of room divider? But would this block light??
