I'm moving to a new build and I feel weird!

I'm just looking for anyone who had this experience or is happy to chat about it!

I have "bought" a new build flat i.e. have exchanged and it won't be complete for a while.

I feel odd! It's several weeks till completing and moving in. Of course, if it wasn't a new build, it would be normal to pack and plan at exchange.

I have spent half the day trying to figure out the new place and now I just feel...odd....I think because normally you wouldn't have long between and you'd be running round doing stuff.

Of course, being me, it's 11pm and I've suddenly gone all hyper and feel like I must do stuff! If it wasn't so cold, I'd go for a walk.

It's like I have to keep saying "I am moving, it's just a long way away". Seems unreal! Anyone else had this? After a much wanted move fell through last year, it doesn't feel real even after exchange!

We had well over a year to prepare for moving into our newbuild house last year.

First there was the time when we were waiting to reserve (pencilled in but our plot hadn't been released), then we reserved and were desperately waiting to exchange (getting all sorts of threats from the sales team about how we could loose the house if we didn't exchange in time) and finally after exchange the long wait to completion.
The buying process was 12-months but there was the time before this looking at the development layout, identifying the ideal house/ plot, getting our house marketed etc.

We found the long period between exchange / completion quite a calm time. We knew it was happening but were in a sort of limbo with a lot of our stuff already packed and sitting boxed ready to go and living with the bare minimum for daily use.
Certainly preferred it to the rush of exchange / completion taking place only a day or two apart! 😆

Thanks Dougie

I found the waiting to exchange bit absolutely awful!

I do feel better this morning, it may just be standard moving anxiety. You are right, rationally I know I can do stuff and I will.

after a good night's sleep, I guess it feels like a lengthening of moving anxiety but I know that makes no sense!
