Quadrant shower tray - why/why not?

We are currently having our bathroom refitted and the plumber is pushing really hard for us to have an offset quadrant shower enclosure. For context, the bathroom is 2.8m square and has a freestanding bath already, but it's not a space issue. The plumber reckons a rectangular enclosure, with the long side facing the door, would be too intrusive as you walk into the room. I don't particularly want a quadrant anyway, but can anyone suggest why the plumber might be so in favour? Do they have obvious advantages that I'm missing?

It sounds like the plumber has already told you why he thinks the quadrant will work better. They might be correct, they might not. It's your bathroom though, you have to use it every day, so what do you want?

Have you tried placing something on the floor where the rectangular enclosure would go and deciding for yourself if you think it would be intrusive?
