Any idea how how much it costs to replace a large Velux roof window?
Nothing fancy just the basic model on a single-storey roof.
Thanks!

Just had a new one installed. Cost was £850 for the window and it took 3 guys all day to install it so £750 plus vat for labour in our area

I'm in London and have been quoted £2,500 which seems a bit expensive.

I can imagine that being a company doing it. We just had a local builder who works on a day rate and paid for the velux from the supplier ourselves

Depends on size. Ours was quite large and with the flashing kit required it was about £750 for a branded velux but it’s the placement that makes a difference to fitting. They have to remove roofing, create a frame in the timbers which is likely to involve removing existing timbers and putting in new ones. Then you need a special flashing kit for the type of tile you have on your roof etc.

I don’t think your quote is completely unreasonable. I’d have said between £1500 and £3000 depending on size, roof type, location of window, area of the country.

Good point- we already had the timbers in place. Ours was 138 x 98 so quite big.
