Will they definitely need to rent?

My parents are looking at relocating 150 miles away. My mum is adamant that they will need to rent somewhere, as he thinks you have to sell your own house first. I think their house will quickly as it's immaculate and in a good area. Am I being naive in think that you can just agree a mutually convenient day to complete and no renting required?

Have they found somewhere to buy?
most people move without needing to rent

No not yet. I'm not holding my breath that it will actually happen as they've been taking about it for years but only just made an appointment to have the house valued. Suspect it's worth quite a bit more than she thinks it is. She thinks their move costs will be around £15k!

Suitable properties have come up but they haven't even viewed them. Despite going in the town at the time.

A few months ago it was that you need to be under offer to offer yourself - and can then agree a mutual day of exchange and completion
