Wondering if anyone can advise we are looking to do some work on a house we have brought that has a conservatory on the back turned into an extension this has been done years ago so no building regs we can find, we would like to do some more work on it but thought we had better check foundations! We have dug a hole alongside the house and from ground level goes down about 6 bricks and then on to the concrete base about 350mm thick, does this sound ok? Not sure if anyone would know is stressing me out Hmm

Sounds a bit shallow to me. Usually footings are dug out over 1m deep. There’s also a minimum width to consider. Ask your architect or local council what they need for your location.

I think you would need to check with a structural engineer.

350mm is more than adequate for a conservatory, even a single storey extension would be fine on it,

when I’ve dug foundations for our new extension , the foundations for the house were exposed and the concrete is 300mm thick. House was built in 79.

The concrete for the new extension needs to be 400mm deep, although the trench needed to be at least 900mm down. We ended up being 1650 down and put 600mm of concrete in.

350mm should be fine for a single storey.

Yes but it depends if your neighbours have trees with evasive roots that are close by which may mean you will need to dig deeper.

Invasive

What exactly is the work your planning to do to it ?
