Kitchen sink - stainless steel or granite composite in black?

We're having a new kitchen fitted and have always had stainless steel sinks, but the black ones look so stylish.
Are they really as high maintenance as Google seems to say?

Definitely not in a hard water area - stainless steel is bad enough

We’ve had a couple of black sinks and never had a problem with them. We are doing some minor alterations in the kitchen and debating whether to replace with a stainless steel sink for a change.

Soft water area, so should it be okay?
