Integrated combi microwave with quick start microwave

Does such a thing exist? We are planning a new kitchen and I'm thinking of a combi microwave oven as a way of saving space instead of having a second over (which we only really use for cooking big roast like Christmas dinner) and a separate microwave. But we'll mainly use it as a microwave and all the ones i've ever used in the past, usually in holiday homes, have had complicated dial arrangements that make using the microwave a real pain. I frequently use the microwave to reheat hot drinks and absolutely need a quick start function that gives me a short burst like 30 seconds or a minute. If I have to faff around with dials and times and heat levels to warm my coffee I'll end up going crazy. Does such a thing exist or shall I just stick with a separate microwave?

I have a microwave function on an oven and you press on, then touch pad the microwave button then you can dial up or down but the default is 600w1 minute which is perfect for reheating a cold coffee so I can just press start without touching the dial. Would something like that work for you? It's a Siemens.

Fwiw the combo is new to me too and I continued to use the old microwave in the utility for a few weeks as I felt it was too complicated, but actually it isn't at all. It's just a slightly different process. Within a week of forcing myself it felt completely normal and comfortable to use. I'm pleased with it now and we have the extra oven for big meals so it's really handy.

I think if it's your own, rather than a cottage you're staying in for a few days you'll soon get used to pushing some buttons to do your standard uses. I have to push buttons five times on my microwave to reheat a cup of tea that's cooled down too much, but it takes me less than two seconds and zero brain space because I do it on autopilot.

Thematic · 13/01/2023 14:04

@GolfEchoRomeoTangoIndia 5 buttons would drive me insane! I'm not a very patient person. I need to be able to press start and have it go!

@ODFOx I'm not sure, even that sounds more than I'd hoped for, though not as bad as some. I'd been hoping to find one with a quick start button of some kind. I'm very impatient and always in a rush.

It's one button for high heat, three jabs of the ten second button to take it up to half a minute, and then GO. But I wouldn't have been able to tell you that until I sat down and had a think, because it's completely automatic, and almost certainly would be for you as well once you'd had it for a week or two.

What you're looking for definitely exists. We have this one, and it does what you want:

A Hoptpoint might not have been our first choice, but it was bought during lockdown when a lot of models were out of stock. That said, it works well enough.

I found retailers didn't tend to include this in the lists of features, so one tip is to look for the instruction manuals online. These will generally mention the quick start function if present.

@Thematic
I have a Neff combi. Turn it on. Select microwave intensity, 90, 180, 1000 etc. select time and press start. Some have memories so look for this. Mine is perfectly quick though!!

Thematic · 13/01/2023 16:13

@TizerorFizz yours is everything I’m trying to avoid. I never use anything other than max power. Just want a simply quick start 30 second or 1 minute button. I do t want to have to choose anything. Thanks, I’ll avoid neff.

We have the Neff combi microwave oven and it’s so easy! Our 10 year old can use it easily. You turn it on, select microwave function and the default is 800W with one minute (which you can adjust if needed) otherwise you just press start.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 13/01/2023 16:47

Ive had a Panasonic combo for thirty years, Im on my third now . Sometimes we have an oven as well, sometimes we don’t. It isn’t built in, but I have it in an oven housing with a few extra holes in the side ( not really necessary but belt and braces.] We use it more as an oven or on combi, but the microwave only is just pressing one button.

TizerorFizz · 13/01/2023 16:53

Modern ones have a variety of strengths so one button is never possible! Ours is up to 1000. It’s easy though!

Lifesyoungdream · 13/01/2023 16:56

I also have the Neff combi It is easy to use but expensive to buy.

Rainbowshit · 13/01/2023 20:07

I have an AEG combi microwave and you can set favourites so it's not too many buttons to press to heat up a cup of tea.

BruceAndNosh · 13/01/2023 20:15

I have a Neff combo that it also used for heating cold cups of coffee.
At first it was a pain to access the microwave menu, but after reading the instructions I found I could alter the settings so when you press the On button it defaults to Microwave 600w,one minute.
All I have to do to reheat is press Go. Dead simple

I've also got a Panasonic combi, it's not built in but it is possible to just press the microwave button (which puts it on full power) and there is a 30 second button further down if you just want a quick blast. Might need to press start as well, don't really use the 30 second option myself as a cup of tea takes nearly a minute to reheat

Lincolnremain · 14/01/2023 06:38

AEG combi. Mine just has the strat button as you suggest. Just put thing in press start

This. If you want it to be on max power it's only one extra button press. Defaults to 1 minute microwave as soon as you turn on oven but lots of other heating and defrost options.

BeckettandCastle · 14/01/2023 08:27

My neff combi is great. Press 4 buttons - turn it on, press home, select microwave, hit go (1 minute heat at 600W default). Takes about 10 seconds

trulyunruly01 · 14/01/2023 09:51

My Hotpoint might fit the bill, it's integrated, I have it in a tower above my double oven. To heat a mug for 30 seconds would involve 1 twist of the 'on' dial, a poke of the 'ok', and a jab at Start. The default time is 30 seconds and go up in 15 second chunks.

TattiePants · 14/01/2023 11:16

I’ve had the same AEG combi for 14 years so they definitely exist. For mine you just press the 30 second button once (twice if you want a minute etc) and it starts.

Here's mine OP. Page 13 shows the quick start microwave button. Button no 7.

Digimoor · 14/01/2023 11:32

We have a panasonic - press microwave, turn knob for time, press start
It also has a memory function so you can preprogram it - never used it but I guess that would be - press memory press start
