Hello property peeps,

I am looking for 3 skylights for my extension and have been blown away by the number of different companies offering similar products. I have looked at Velux, TGS, Roof-maker, roofdepot and many more. I’ve tried looking at Google, trustpilot, review.com and other online sites to get an idea of the company, but the reviews are either highly negative or very curated depending on which company you are looking at. I am quite tempted to go with Velux but it’s rather expensive for my budget and am hoping I can find a cheaper but good quality brand. There’s been an awful lot of chatter about pros and cons of roof-lights but very little on the companies that sells them.Any recommendations please. Thank you 🙏

@J2CL Did you ever manage to find any good ones? We were buying roof light company Neo Advance ones but they are being stopped due to faulty glazing so are unavailable at the moment.

Our roofer offered us a choice. We just asked him what he'd get if it was his roof. Which was Velux. And they have been excellent, including the after-sales help with fitting their own-brand electric blinds to the electric ones. We got stuck and a very nice lady talked us through it while DH was up the ladders doing it. It was really very simple, just something we hadn't understood right.

We've got Fakro windows in our loft conversion and are really happy with them. I like that they hinge at the top (what we have them on most of the time) or in the middle (good for when we want to clean them).

We've got Fakro ones too, just the basic ones. Definitely worth a look.

Thanks everyone - unfortunately Velux & Fakro don't make one large enough for our largest opening - their largest is 200-100cm (or 120cm x 220cm) but we need 300cm x 100cm.

Do you really need them so big? I always suspect there is a reason when good makes don't do things.

Hi..
I checked out a lot of different manufacturers and finally opted for https://ofset.co.uk/. I randomly came across their website reading up on articles on skylights. The design was great and so was their website and I was quite surprised they didn’t appear higher up in google search results. I opted for 3 x (1.2m by 0.8m) fixed skylights with solar control. The sales guy was not very responsive and I ended up complaining to the boss of the company, who told me to contact him directly if I had any issues.
The skylights were delivered on time and they have now been installed for 4 months. They look great.
