How to dispose of old pine doors?

I’m replacing 9 internal pine doors which are in good condition but much as I’m loath to just dump them they have been planed/cut to size so I’m assuming they’re no good to anyone else. Should I just have them sawn to manageable pieces and take them to the local recycling centre - or is there another/ better way?

Great for my allotment op. Are you near county durham? I have a van?

Diyextension · 10/01/2023 17:12

I’d chop them up and put them in the woodstove, theres some good heat there.

Happydaze2 · 10/01/2023 17:27

@Eastereggsboxedupready hundreds of miles away I’m afraid 🙂

Pretty depressing you want to chop them up, there will be somewhere/one to donate them to.

Happydaze2 · 10/01/2023 19:25

@watchfulwishes I absolutely don’t want to chop them up

Deffo give FB Marketplace a go. We have people on ours who will take away old white goods - usually within a matter if hours. Surely there must be a wood equivalent.

I’m not sure what’s depressing about heating your home ?

someone off Facebook marketplace will come and ( pretend) to be looking for some new doors , then take them home and chop them up for firewood 🙂.

I was referring to this from the op Should I just have them sawn to manageable pieces and take them to the local recycling centre

Overall though burning stuff in the home isn't great for the pollution, but some are wedded to the old ways!

Diyextension · 10/01/2023 20:22

And if they go to the recycling centre, how much pollution will be created in actually recycling them into something else ?

The sale of wood stoves has gone through the roof, looks like the old ways are making a comeback?

anywhere near Derbyshire op ?

A friend gave me a lift home today, I opened the back of his van to put my bag in and half a pine bed fell out ( he has a wood burner ) 😀 I mean how inconsiderate of him , someone could be sleeping on that !!!!!

I put mine on eBay and sold them for £1 but someone collected and reused them 😊

Gosh, we sold one 1930's panel door for £50 on eBay! (It had been stripped)

Well, only half a person could sleep on it!
