How long for new build to be ready

Our vendors are buying a new build. We've been trying to get an estimation of when it will be ready, but all we know at this stage is that they're "at the painting stage". Too optimistic in thinking it could be ready to complete on in a couple of months?

That’s not optimistic if they are at painting stage!

They were painting our house the day before we moved in! Wouldn't expect it to be any more than a week.

Oh wow... I assumed painting came before kitchen fittings etc?! The vendors definitely seemed to imply it would be months rather than weeks!

About 2 weeks for us at painting stage!

Have they not got a proposed date from the developer?
Ours was 12-months from reserving to completion but we had step by step progress reports from them. When it was getting close (i.e. 4-6 weeks to go) we got constant reports direct from the sales & customer support team.
With 4-weeks to go the house was essentially finished and we had a home preview at which point any snagging was dealt with.

I find it hard to believe they really don't know.

Ours was painted before flooring was down and about two months before completion! I think all the builders seem to do it differently tbh. It was painted before anything was fitted, then touched up afterwards.

When we reserved ours, we were given a provisional date of August. We moved at the end of August. Your vendors should have had some indication from the developer I’d have thought. Our houses were released in batches because they need to fulfil their quotas for the quarters.

Some developers will release houses when they’re finished, others will release when an area or street is complete.

Thank you! When we had our offer accepted they said they'd been told sometime between March and May, but haven't had any updates since.
