Good quality cheap worktops?

We have not long moved into a property and want to give our kitchen a makeover, new worktop, paint and handles etc as we will be saving for an extension so don’t want to spend on a new kitchen when could be being ripped out in 5 years time.

Recommendations for good suppliers of quality laminate or the solid laminate? (Ideally would like quartz but no point throwing money at an old kitchen!)

Thanks!

we got duropal square edge laminate from DIY Kitchens last year its got a really sturdy thick top part not shiny plasticky looking and each 3 meter length was £142

the solid laminates are nearly as expensive as quartz ones

I had an Ikea worktop for around 15 years - it was great value and easy for a standard builder to fit.

No real price difference between solid laminate and cheap quartz. Ikea still does nice worktops. If it only needs to last for 5 years, I'd go for solid wood.
