Can anyone recommend either a female diy/decorator/carpentry company
or retired handyman in the SE London area?

If you are on Facebook I would put this question on the local Facebook pages. I find this an extremely useful resource to get recommendations. This is when being in social media really works well. I have sourced excellent tradespeople this way.

I agree with this. Get some recommendations from your local Facebook group, for us it's been the only way to find trustworthy tradespeople.
