Hereford city is great but perhaps not for the faint of heart. Very inward looking. This seems to be true of Herefordshire in general.

What do you mean by inward looking? I am also considering Hereford but inward looking doesn't sound great.

Hereford itself, I wouldn't consider.

Terrible traffic, depressing town centre and like a PP says very backwards looking. Look on the outskirts- Malvern is lovely. I'd head towards Worcestershire,
Worcester is great, it's had a lot of London movers and there's a fab feel to the place now.

Hereford people, as a very broad generalization, believe Hereford to be the center of the universe. People who despite having lived there for decades are still considered “from away”. Which is unusual for a town sorry, city of its size.
I do love Hereford but middle class hummus fuelled wankathon it ain’t.

But- gorgeous countryside, the Welsh hills are very nearby, lots of interesting castles etc along the marches, the wye goes through town.
That said I don’t live there for good reason. The people can be a bit special.
