What is this under my stairs?

This has been bugging me since I moved in to my property a year ago.

this capped pipe is in the cupboard under my stairs, and makes it difficult use the cupboard to it’s full potential

Anyone know what it is?

What is this under my stairs?

If the pipe is copper I'd say either water or gas (based on what's in my own house - no professional knowledge whatsoever!). We do have some black metal pipes in our loft which I think contained the original electrical cables (house built early 20th century).

It looks like the floor is concrete? Perhaps that's why it was capped above the floor as there were no floorboards to remove and cap it beneath the floor.

Is it a gas pipe due to there once being a meter there?

Capped off gas pipe?

Likely a capped gas pipe, we have one in our fireplace but it's shorter than that, meters were originally put under stairs, ours is still there. Is your meter elsewhere maybe it was moved

Looks like a gas pipe.
