My buyers lender has cancelled the survey - why?

So I’ve just had a call from the surveying company who have said our buyers lender has cancelled the survey. They do not have the reason why.

im waiting to call my EA to discuss but they open at 10. Anyone had this happen to them before? What could it be?

Could be anything. Maybe your buyers are going with another lender or the lender has just decided to go for a paper based survey. It could be that the buyers are withdrawing, but it’s unlikely that this would be the way you hear about it!

That’s what I thought, as surely if they were withdrawing they would contact the EA first and we’d hear from them?

So apparently the buyer had no idea and neither did their mortgage broker. So their mortgage broker is going to call the bank and ask. I wonder why they would cancel it?

Sometimes they do them digitally don’t they? Hopefully the lender is happy enough to proceed without visiting in person. Or maybe the valuer is off sick and they will rearrange in due course. It could of course be something more sinister like they’re going to withdraw the whole mortgage but that really wouldn’t be my first thought.
Hope you get answers soon!

Possibly! But the surveyor did say when they called that the lender cancelled as they weren’t proceeding with it - could that mean they’re not proceeding with the mortgage application?

It could also mean they’re not proceeding with the in person survey. You’re hearing it third hand so really who knows. Obviously it’s going to panic you though so I hope you’re not waiting too long for answers.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? We just had the same thing happen this morning and are now very worried. Survey company said the lender had changed something but had no further information. Waiting on EA to get back to us.
