Modernise bathroom

We have a small family bathroom which was put in when the house was built 20 years ago

Would like to modernise it but don't want it to look dated, but I've never done a bathroom before!!

Can you share ideas / images/ links of inspiration please .

The only thing I don't like is Victorian style because I'm scared of pipes and black toilet seats, those little tiles, high cysterns etc l freak me out 🙈

Space wise ... we need to have a bath with shower over bath.

I would choose a sink basin from this company and work my colour scheme around it.

We’re just planning our bathroom Reno. I’ve been looking at Pinterest to find a style I like and will try to “copy” the look. I think it’s difficult to choose a style that won’t date TBH, I mean, how many bathrooms from the 90s do you see today that look still in style! It’s inevitable, so you might as well choose something you love today.

Is it 100% necessary to have tiles behind a toilet from a cleaning /hygiene point of view? or is it OK to use just bathroom paint behind the loo?

I'm thinking of going for a dark colour on 3 walls as can't find tiles I like (other than the shower area which will be terrazzo tiles I think)

They are soooo gorgeous ... wanting to do my bathroom on a budget but also want something non- standard ..
