Advice on areas within a 30 min drive of Peterlee

Hi everyone, we are relocating from West Yorkshire due to my husbands work. He has a job in Peterlee and my DC has got a place at a good secondary school there to start year 7 next September. We have visited many times and feel Peterlee is a pretty run down town so would like any advice on places to live in the area that is commutable up to 30 mins. We like Castle Eden and Sedgefield so far. Budget up to 350k for 3 bed. Don’t mind terraces/semi/detached but not new build. Please help!

Castle Eden yes. Sedgefield is lovely, but if you’re going there I’d switch to the secondary school there which is excellent. The drive from Sedgefield to Peterlee would be pointless, and adding a lot of time onto your teen’s school day. Durham City and the areas immediately to the east of the city are all within 30 minutes of Peterlee too, but again I’d switch schools if moving there.
