How much would a painter charge for this?

White wash then paint white hall and landing ceilings, paint walls hall, landing and stairs, paint staircase and banisters etc. Paint skirtings hall and landing and quite large window frame, but not doors? All sanding down and filling done and stair carpet removed.

We have reached a stop in our renovation and after doing the rubbing down in hallway and landing and painting the doors when we did the rooms they lead into, we just cant seem to get going on this as it is such a big job.

I am trying to work out how much it would likely cost and how long it would take a professional.

Depends how big it is

My decorator charges £200 a day labour plus materials. I think he’s quite cheap but he does a really good job.

Not all decorators will be happy to do a quick job that isn’t to their usual standards, mine wouldn’t. Because it’s his van outside the door, so might want to do the rubbing down to his standard for instance.

Thanks, it is a typical 1930s house, so not large but reasonably high ceilings.

Good point about the rubbing down, we have already done it, except where the carpet currently is, but absolutely would want a good job rather than a rush job.

I would be delighted with £200 per day. As guessing it would take 4-5 days

DH has the option to take some unused holiday or sell it back to his employer and I am campaigning for him to sell it back and get a professional in rather than take the time off and do it ourselves, as I dont have much spare holiday.
