Solicitor delays - postal strikes

Just wondering what sort of impact the postal strikes have had on post in your area?

back story - we are waiting for a transfer form to be sent to our solicitor from a previous owner before our purchase can go ahead. Solicitor error during previous sale meant that the leasehold garage deeds weren’t transferred with land registry to the current owners. This has stalled our sale because they have had to contact the previous owners (house last sold 2018) to sign the form so we can proceed.

they’ve told solicitor it was posted back 30/11 but my solicitors still haven’t received it. They were asked if they would go into solicitors to sign another copy and they said no as they had sent in post.

I don’t know who the previous owners are - solicitors just seem to think we just wait but at what point do we assume that

  1. It’s not been posted and we have an issue or 2. It’s been lost in the post and they need to get another copy signed

Our sale is ready to complete but our purchase can’t go ahead until this is sorted.

It seems to be really variable. This thread is interesting:

http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/amiibeingunreasonable/4699103-to-wonder-why-royal-mail-are-accepting-parcels-at-this-point

We've had a handful of Christmas cards that have gone through one particular sorting office and only taken 3-4 days for second class. Same for ones we've sent to same place. A weekly newspaper I get was delivered only two days late.

But, it's noticeable that we haven't received nearly as many Christmas cards as normal whether people didn't bother or they're stuck somewhere, who knows? I also have a parcel that's been put for delivery for a couple of weeks now.

It looks like things that are listed now are getting through but the backlog isn't being dealt with.

I read something that suggested RM staff had been told to prioritize parcels over letters. I’ve also had people locally to me say that post seems to arriving in batches - some of the newer posted stuff is arriving but some of the backlog post is taking longer.

we have received barely any Christmas cards in the post this year but equally we haven’t posted any either because we thought they might not get through so I suspect a lot of people are not sending so many this year.

i really do sympathize with the RM staff but this has totally messed up our purchase - we should have been moving tomorrow if the form had arrived 😢😢
