Help! I need a round table!

Hello lovely people, you have been so helpful in the past so I am hoping you can help with this. Hubby and I are slowly changing bits around the house and are hoping to update our dining furniture in the new year. However, we have been looking for a 6 seater circular table and we are stumped! I can only see 4 seaters which extend in to 6 seaters or glass tables which give me the fear(I have a very clumsy son!)

We are looking for a nice wooden table that could squeeze 6 people round it. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance! 🙂

budget?

Check the vintage sites, you might find one of the 60s/70s Ercol/G-Plan ones. They’re often round

If you go for one with a central support, rather than a three or four legged one, you can fit more people round comfortably. If there are 6 of you everyday, then rectangular will always be more comfortable and space saving. The diameter of the table you would need for 6 to be comfortable for round vs oval is often inhibiting for conversation and wasted space in the middle - just think of the many weddings you’ve probably been to!!

I was trying to find one with central support for this reason. There are only 3 of us but we like visitors. The only tables I saw within my price range were quite small, however.

Look at the M&S Padstow round table.
It's 120cm diameter round, and then extends to a larger oval. We have 5 round it everyday, and can fit 6 easily without extending. (And have had ten people sat round it extended, but that is rather "cosy"!)
We got ours a few years ago from a local furniture outlet place.

This looks great, thank you, I just had a look at this. It is a good price too and looks really solid. Off to show my husband now. Thanks for this 🙂

There are three of us too (2adults plus toddler) and we have a round table with 4-leg support, but it’s beautiful and I’m very into design pieces. We can fit 6 adults around it at a squeeze, but really for the amount of times that happens (and we love hosting!), we are glad we didn’t get a bigger one. If you have some storage, we have a rectangular ikea table that extends to seat 12 people and the legs detach. We keep it in the summer house and just swap the tables over for big gatherings. It works really well and means we don’t have to compromise space and aesthetics for occasional parties.

I grew up with this

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 17/12/2022 18:04

better link

DisforDarkChocolate · 17/12/2022 18:05

I had one from IKEA by but it was better for 4.

Have you tried Cotswold Furniture?

Elmo22 · 17/12/2022 18:07

These are such helpful posts - thanks everyone! The Skovby ones look ideal but the prices are pretty steep. I would definitely look at second hand ones.

I looked at the Cotswold website and the tables were beautiful but they were a bit small for 6 unless extended. I will have another look though, thank you.

Have always loved this! Iconic

They have plenty of pictures with six chairs too which is handy to see @Elmo22

Thanks xx

My pal bought ikea’s
ingatorp round table in white (it comes also in black) for (todays price) £329.

Affordable, mix with other quality products and nobody would know it’s ikea, and when your child batters it with toys etc it’s not the end of the world.

However the colour may not be any use for you.

rosegoldwatcher · 18/12/2022 21:15

Ooops - just noticed that my find is exactly the same as the one suggested by@DisforDarkChocolate - and her link is a bit cheaper.
Anyway - it's very attractive.
