Timber frame house insulation

Any ideas for insulation for a timber frame house? Aside from loft/drylining/curtains/draft excluders. House seems to be very cold and seem quite restricted by what we can put in, just wondering if anyone had an innovative solutions?

Cladding either internal or external. Bloody expensive though.

@underthemike thanks, yeah that's what I dreaded/expected I guess. Anyone any experience of doing same? We have an integrated garage beside a north facing kitchen that is a bit of a drain on the temperature generally. The garage is dry lined and I'm going to try and look behind the units in the kitchen to see if there are any easy fixes but longterm may have to examine cladding in more detail

also; i know foam is a swear word in terms of insulation and mortages etc, but does that apply to suspended floors and robotic sprayed insulation?
