Downstairs bathroom completed today. I am not happy with the standard of finishing. Is this acceptable?

That is behind the toilet. And yes that’s a screwdriver embedded in the concrete floor they laid.

and this one is the soil pipe leading to outside

It doesn't look great. I guess the two questions are:

  1. Is it solid/OK even if scruffy?
  2. Can it be covered to look nice?

If it is a genuine bodge job they shoudl put it right.

What does the rest look like?

It’s solid yes. The rest has been finished to a relatively good standard. The whole (tiny) room was freshly boarded and plastered, so I’m not sure how it can be covered.

I wouldn’t say so. We have had some pretty shoddy work done, but when we had our downstairs bathroom done it didn’t look anything like that. We also had it boarded and skimmed and the hole at the back of the toilet where the waste pipe goes is flush and has been siliconed around the pipe. I would call them back to rectify if I were you

Why didn’t you have a floor standing modern loo and box out all the pipes? It’s horrible. I wouldn’t have it. Hide everything for a streamlined look.
