Paint colour to go with red sofa and dark wooden floor

Is there any advice on what colour goes with a red sofa for a living room please?

I like the idea of yellow for some reason, but I think that might be a bit much.

Also thought navy blue maybe? Or a very pale grey?

Any advice welcomed, as I don't have a clue!

What overall style/feel do you want to achieve? Red goes well with greyish or turquoise blues, or with pink or sage (light green) for a muted more elegant look. Yellow or navy would be a very bold primary coulour experience. You can't go wrong with white.

Edward Bulmer's French Blue is one of my favourite colours to team with red accents/furniture.

We have pale yellow (think light primrose) with red sofa and dark wood floor and it looks fabulous 🥰

Craig and Rose regency cream. If your floor and sofa have warm tones, you need warm toned walls too

Ochre type colours work well with red, something earthy.

Very pale blue. This colour combination has echos of Gustavian style. Or use off white (not brilliant white)!and accessorize with pale blue. Make the sofa a feature. I really would not use yellow. Grey or other pale furniture works for this style and keep the room airy.

Warm gold?

Not a living room, but we somewhat stupidly bought a bright red range cooker and struggled to choose colours to put with it. Eventually - after trying pale grey and taupe which looked off somehow - we went for cream walls (actually Craig & Rose Pale Oak) and F&B Oval Room Blue cabinets as well as a teal sofa. I love it all together, but in hindsight I think a paler blue might have worked even better as I love the Gustavian style suggested by @TizerorFizz so that would be my choice @Newhousefloor.

I've just painted our north-facing dining room walls in Little Greene's Castell Pink (a warm, earthy tone, more cafe au lait than pink) and it looks fantastic with the dark brown panelling (Little Greene Chocolate) and the red tiles in the fireplace. I"m going to put lots of ilex berries in that room for Christmas.
