I am recarpeting the 1st floor hallway and stairs up to the loft conversion. Currently hallway is bare boards and stairs have awful sisal carpet.
Trying to decide between wool carpet or polypropylene.
Things that make me think wool is better:
- there is a heavy chest that sits in the hallway
- longer lasting
- no nasty chemicals
Things that make me think polypropylene is better:
- there are carpet beetles and clothes moths in the loft right now. They haven't destroyed the current sisal carpet up there but I'd be worried about wool
- cheaper
- better colours available
The loft level is going to have a hard floor so the beetles won't be an issue up there any more but I don't want to give them a nice new home in the stairs.
Any advice?
