Bird Or Rat Noise Through Bedroom Air Vent, Can’t Sleep.

Oh God, only moved in 6 weeks ago and omg just nearly shit myself ( I have phobia of rodents) , the air vent is level with curtain pole and could hear something moving behind it.
i put the big lights on , turned TV on loud and sprayed air freshener near the vent, it stopped for a bit then started again, so I then put the hair dry on high and it seems to have stopped, Oh god it just makes my skin crawl.
The area behind the air vent is the guttering/ eves. It wasn’t scratching more of a rustling, so think it might be bird/bat but it was so noisy worried it could be rats.. Urgh.
shortlisted 3 pest control companies for tomorrow, I feel pathetic for being so freaked out, doubt I will sleep tonight, Dare not turn the main light off.

Stick a plastic bag over it.

Pest control have been (was really difficult finding someone to come out they are all really busy at the moment apparently).
it’s rats in the loft, and the previous owners knew they had them 😕 The pest control guy found DIY traps behind the boards. He is baiting and trapping them, but apparently the will be more noisy tonight as they will get frisky at first after the poison.
Bloody nightmare,

Ideally you would want to stop them breeding ASAP, also try to find out how they're getting into your property and block the access

@ees2203 yes the pest control guy is going to investigate entry points . We think they came in after the decking was dismantled .
I am in bits, I am very phobic of them, need to get a grip, just hope to god the issue can be rectified.

I know I won’t sleep again tonight, I can’t eat either, was really happy with the house until this.

I’m sorry, I’m rodent phobic too and I would find this impossible too. It’s boring advice and may not work for you but any chance of getting or borrowing a cat? I often let my moggy go deal with spiders etc for me…

Look for rat valves that you can put in your drains to stop them getting in. Good luck, I sympathise, it's horrible but you have started the process of eradication!

@ShadowPuppets thanks, the worst of it is I have to keep it secret from my ASD son who would FLIP if he knew, he hasn’t heard them so far. He hasn’t noticed me twitching and not eating.
I have been look at getting a cat (love them) but was holding off until jobs on the house were finished (didn’t want to upset them with the noise). I have heard that terrors are better ratters but don’t know anyone with one.
@GardensandGrandDesigns thanks for the tip.
