Are there rules on kitchen windows?! Or - can I replace mine?

We have a horrible, old, tiny, galley kitchen which we’ll knock down as soon as money allows.

There is a very strange vented window, which is letting in gales of cold air. I’ve always managed to ignore it but now it’s really bothering me because cost of living etc.

Can I just get it replaced with plain glass? Or are there rules about kitchen windows and ventilation? I see no other explanation for this weirdness!

Pic for info.

Im sure you could replace it unless your house is listed or in a conservation area.

It is sadly in a conservation area. But no one would want to protect a horrible window like that would they?

Is it the only opening window? If so you'll need to replace it with an opener.
