If you water meter is fairly inaccessible - is there an easy fix?

Currently it's fine

But if we refit the kitchen it needs to be thought about it will either be behid a cupboard (not ideal) or behind the fridge freezer (not much better)

Now is there an easy way to read the meter without actually seeing it (a bit like an electric smart meter?) - I'm assuming not but I thought I'd ask!

I think ultimately all of these things will go smart - Thames Water have in theory switched us over to one. However, we don’t have a ‘unit’ to monitor like one would have for gas and leccy, do not overly sure how it works.

I thought this was a National thing but the bin Lorries "read" ours when they come and collect the rubbish (we are in the north west) - I'd presume everywhere would be switching to this as it seems to be successful, and we haven't had a "water meter" in our house or even our last house - they've all been outside. It might be worth looking into

How odd our meter is in the wall in the kitchen, I'm not sure the bin lorry/WiFi would reach it!

I thought water meters were usually outside, under the pavement - at least for houses. I know they're often indoors in flats though, either in the kitchen or in a shared service cupboard somewhere.

Can you have it moved? You can do this with gas and electricity meters so may be a possibility. Ours was in when we bought the house and is actually in the back garden which annoys the meter reader because they can usually do it from their van driving past but has to come into the back garden which doesn't bother me it's only once a year.

Hmm its in the middle of the kitchen/Diner atm

Not sure I could afford to move it

In our area they are all in the pavement at the front, so we never see the meter reader!

I’d look into getting it moved outside, if I were you.
