I can't find a house to live in

I'm currently living with parents with my 16 month old daughter, I have been through a very tough time and there is literally no room for us in the house. I am really struggling to find somewhere to rent as no estate agents Will accept DSS and I can't find any private landlords, no one gets back to me after I tell them that I'm single with a baby. I would be able to afford my rent every month though that's the thing. I'm at my lowest now and I just wanted to know if anyone had any ideas on how I can get something. I have submitted an application form through my local council but they always say there is no eligible properties available for me

I don't have any advice but sorry for your situation, it sounds difficult. Maybe keep going to the council and let them know how desperate you are.

Where is the country are you?
Where else have you looked other than estate agents? Have you looked on gumtree, facebook marketplace, facebook groups for your area etc.

There's a local section on mumsnet, have you posted on there?

if you are in London, rents have gone crazy recently and it is very hard to find anything. Students will queue for hours at the estate agents to be the first to see a property and offer to rent it immediately.

can you look in other areas?
can you find a local agent and get him/her on your side? if you can persuade the agent that you are a good prospect you might (a) get to view first and (b) get your offer in ahead of others.

What location are you as that determines alot

A few factors determine housing

why are you houseless?
do you have your own room?

if you made yourself intentionally homeless then they don’t have to rehouse you immediately

if you have a bedroom then you might not be classed as overcrowded

In theory you could pack a bag and rock up at the local council, say your parents kicked you out and they’d put you in a B&B

I'm in West Yorkshire, I'm sleeping on the sofa and baby in her cot as there is just no room at my parents .. I found a house on marketplace around 2 months ago but had to beg for my deposit back as there was a ray infestation already in the house and the bathroom and kitchen were pulled to pieces and the landlord told me that they aren't going to do anything about it, even though it was promised that it was going to be ready for when I move in. I got my deposit back and now back at my parents but I am so desperate for my own place to have my baby settled. There is nothing else local to me on marketplace and estate agents are just refusing me as I'm on benefits..
