I've been watching far too many property shows on C4 that I seem to be confused by this gentleman. Is he attractive? Or have I lost the plot?

George can't pronounce his own profession - "aw-ee-teh" "aw-ee-teh-ure" that's what I can't cope with.

Oh, yes. That, too. <shudder>

Dragonskin · 27/11/2022 21:41

I can't stand him, mainly after watching 'ugly house' and how condescending he can be if they dare to disagree with him. Put me right off

Peony15 · 27/11/2022 22:26

I find him 🤮, mainly because he thinks he's more amazing than the architecture. I get annoyed that doesn't speak English correctly , can't remember why I think this ? Does he say " was " instead of " were " ? His pronounciation ?

He's built oddly. Like he has to work extremely hard to stay slim. He's very odd. But has lovely eyes and smile. And arms.

I don't think he's odd?

I'd say he's pretty attractive, yes. And I like his accent. And he seems like a nice chap.

I think he seems such a lovely person, that might tip him into attractive. Seems to genuinely want the best outcome for people (unlike Kevin McCloud, rubbing his hands with glee at the sniff of an ill-fitting glazing disaster).

So true re McCloud.

MarigoldPetals · 27/11/2022 22:38

Are you his PR representative OP?

I would have agreed with you until I was about 25 and and managed to outgrow the snob influences of my mum's family. I then lived in his neck of the woods; it's perfectly acceptable.

He does have a certain self assuredness, but I think that's part of the attraction. And he is very successful at what he does so it's not unfounded.

I probably would.

ADHDHelp · 27/11/2022 23:28

He's so puffy.

Not for me, you're welcome to him.

FeelWellEnoughToTellYou · 27/11/2022 23:35

Horrible photos of Phil Spencer game hunting. He's wearing army fatigues and holding a dead deer.

Didn't George Clarke have an affair and leave his family?

Two very unattractive traits. Enough to give me the ick.

SkiingIsHeaven · 28/11/2022 00:01

He wears his trousers a bit too high up. Looks a bit odd because of that.

He seems nice to me.

lollipoprainbow · 28/11/2022 00:05

He's got lovely eyes

FinallyFluid · 28/11/2022 00:15

If he was a chocolate truffle he would eat himself.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 28/11/2022 01:20

No. Used to think he was but he’s got a fat face now.

ExhaustedFlamingo · 28/11/2022 03:25

I've been thinking for a while now that he's surprisingly attractive.

I'd like to show him my amazing space......

gva12345 · 28/11/2022 05:31

I find it irritating how he drops the 'L' in his pronunciation. I think his shape looks odd because he has long legs and a short upper body, and he swaggers when he walks..

I can't stand how he does the pretend hysterical laughing when someone says something that is supposed to be funny, but isn't. He does appear to be full of himself.

I do like most of his shows though.

My favourite property presenter is Charlie Luxton, seems so natural and unassuming. Doesn't seem to be doing many shows lately though.

NeedToKnow101 · 28/11/2022 07:01

Yuk. Not for me. I find him deeply annoying and condescending, and yes, so very, very pleased with himself.

GrumpySausage · 28/11/2022 07:54

Me and DH are big fans of his shoes but I do find him a bit much. The gushing for each house is a bit OTT.

Didn't he also get into trouble for something to do with Grenfell? Like claimed he was there and was terribly upset by it but turns out he wasn't there? I vaguely remember him getting bad press for it.

GrumpySausage · 28/11/2022 07:55

Shows! Not shoes, I can't profess to have noticed them. 😁

GrumpySausage · 28/11/2022 07:59

No I'm wrong. He was there and I'm sure it was horrific to witness, but it seems he may have embellished a story about a child being rescued. Thank you Wikipedia. (Trusted source...)

Bluevelvetsofa · 28/11/2022 17:10

Not a fan. I have a feeling he switches partners a bit too readily.

ThorsBedazzler · 28/11/2022 17:22

I dislike him and his bifold doors.

Is he an architect now? Or still architectural technician with aspirations? Meh, I'm being catty. It's the bifold doors, he shoves them in every elevation possible and even those where they shouldn't be possible.

I love Kevin McLoud though. And Charlie Luxton. Both of them seem interested in the people and the story. George is only interested in where he can shove 3m of plate glass and a few opening mechanisms...

AssumingDirectControl · 28/11/2022 21:33

He has a whiff of the Paul Hollywood about him. That’s not a good thing.

Saz12 · 28/11/2022 22:13

It’s the “pahrster” and “bahrth” I object to. Also that episode where he put a toilet on the landing behind a frosted glass sliding door. Wierd.

RabbitTerror · 28/11/2022 22:22

Phil Spencer was ace at a works thing years ago, fun, bought everyone tequilas. Kirsty looked like a pig in a Frock suffering us lower class fools.

George is unpleasant. Is he actually a qualified architect now? I've not big problem with that because Kevin Mcloud started off as a paint effects/ lampshade designer but has put decades of work in.
Not sure I could rely on George to actually define the difference between conservation, restoration and a replica.

Choochoowhoo · 29/11/2022 10:03

I fancy the pants off him
